Across the savage narrows spans

a bridge joining opposing shores

with different views- one east, one west

although the steep and tree-lined crests

lie more similar than not.

Should wind or current come to breech

this sturdy man-made arm of peace

we’d build again from end to end

no rift too deep to make amends

no rift too deep between two friends.
